Full-time | Bridge Street, Moulton, Newmarket CB8 8SP
Two AA Rosettes. Suffolk Pub of the Year.
On the edge of Newmarket, the home of British horse racing, The Packhorse Inn is a proper village pub with 16 newly refurbished bedrooms and a passionate team at its heart. We're a 2 AA Rosette pub and winner of Suffolk Pub of the Year, serving seasonal food built around local game, fish and vegetables. Each month we run special menus like Butcher's Best and Fisherman's Catch. We also host wine dinners, sharing suppers and other events, and serve one of the best roasts around.
The role
We're looking for a Front of House Supervisor to lead our floor team and make every guest feel at home. Working closely with our General Manager and Assistant Manager, you'll run services day to day, set the tone for the team and make sure every guest leaves happy, whether they're in for a pint at the bar or a celebration dinner. This suits someone who loves hospitality, leads from the front and wants to keep growing their career.
What you'll do
- Lead and coordinate the front of house team on shift, setting the standard by example
- Deliver warm, polished service, from a quick drink to a Rosette-level dining experience
- Work hand in hand with the kitchen to keep services running smoothly
- Look after wet and dry stock, and handle cash and transactions accurately
- Keep the pub clean, organised and welcoming for guests and team alike
- Support, train and encourage newer team members
- Keep the GM and AGM updated on anything to do with the team, guests or building
What you'll bring
- Front of house experience, ideally with some supervisory responsibility
- A genuine love of great food, drink and local, seasonal produce
- Pride in delivering a fantastic guest experience
- Confidence leading a team: calm, positive and organised under pressure
- A good understanding of stock and accurate cash handling
- The drive to keep learning and developing your skills
What you'll get
- Team & individual incentives, including staff days out and trips abroad
- Learning & development, with accredited training courses and a clear path to Assistant Manager and beyond. We're a growing group and we promote from within.
- Tips + Wagestream access, so you can track your earnings in real time and access pay as you earn
- Flexible hours to help you keep a healthy work-life balance
- Free meal on every shift, freshly prepared by our kitchen
- Up to 50% off food at our venues
- Overnight stays from £75 at any Chestnut property
- Peter Graham wine discounts on carefully selected wines
- Family & friends discounts
- High-street discounts on retail, dining and travel
- Employee Assistance Programme, with free, confidential support for wellbeing, finances and more
- Team parties and social events throughout the year
- Work anniversary rewards
- Refer a friend scheme, with a cash bonus when they join

The original advert had no pay rate, so I've left a placeholder. I also matched the opening to your kitchen adverts so the Packhorse roles read as a set.
