Core Responsibilities
The Bottle Shop Assistant will be a key ambassador for The Old Bridge Hotel's Bottle Shop, handling daily operations and ensuring exceptional customer experiences.
- Sales & Service: Expertly selling wine and spirits, providing personalised recommendations, and engaging customers.
- Stock Management: Efficiently handling and putting away large stock deliveries (manual handling).
- Merchandising: Restocking shelves for the Bottle Shop and internal hotel wine stock, ensuring displays are attractive and accurate.
- Operations: Accurate cash handling, processing transactions, and performing basic reporting tasks.
- Problem-Solving: Proactively addressing customer queries and operational issues as they arise.
- Team Contribution: Working collaboratively with the wider hotel team.
What We Are Looking For
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following absolute requirements:
- Passion for Wine: Genuine enthusiasm and interest in wine and spirits.
- Customer Facing Confidence: Comfortable and confident engaging customers in both retail and hospitality environments.
- Attitude: Friendly, welcoming, punctual, positive, and genuinely hardworking.
- Availability: Must be available to work shifts on weekends (but not necessarily all weekends).
- Legal Age: Must be 18 years or older.
- Physical Ability: Must be physically able-bodied to handle and put away stock deliveries (heavy lifting required).
Desired Qualifications;
Wine/Spirits Training: WSET Level 1 or 2 is preferred, but equivalent knowledge gained through experience is accepted
